The first time happened when exiting the highway, where I came to a yield sign, I then proceeded to accelerate onto the road after yielding and the car would not accelerate and started to have jumpy motions and kept revving every time I would try to step on the gas pedal. On multiple occasions my car has started to stall out as I began to accelerate. This warrants a safety recall due to the nature of the failure and possible injury potential when failure occurs in traffic, but has not been recognized by Ford. Ford has changed the part number of the throttle body replacement part from the original part causing suspicion to be cast on the original part.

If the problem is a faulty throttle body the failure code should be p2111 or p2112. The diagnostic codes for this failure apparently get erased when the car engine is cycled off then on, preventing a diagnostic test from capturing the code necessary for analysis (unless a diagnostic is performed while the incident is occurring). Through further research I found the following: unfortunately this failure seems to be occurring more frequently and linked to a throttle body problem. There was no forewarning for the failure incident and I will say that I was in a precarious and dangerous traffic condition when the failure occurred. Since the incident I took the car into a reputable shop for proper diagnostic which resulted in no indication or failure codes from the tests. I re-started the engine and drove home with no further incident. I turned off the engine and waited several minutes. The wrench indicator came on as I managed to safely get to a parking lot. Rpm decreased dramatically and the car would not accelerate, however the engine did not stop running. While driving approximately 45mph the car suddenly started running rough and lost all power. The lady at the dealership said Ford has had problems with the electronic throttle body going out in Ford vehicles, including the kind I have- 2009 Ford Fusion. The Ford dealership said the electronic throttle body has to be replaced, and was the cause of my car problems today. The tow truck took us to the Ford dealership. The police pulled behind me and she called the tow truck. I turned off the car and restarted it, but the same lights came on, the car was shaky, and could not accelerate. My car was perpendicular to the cars in the 4 other lanes. The car did not have the power to turn or even make it to the side of the road. I pressed down on the accelerator to try to move the car out of the middle of the 4-lane intersection, but it moved at a snail's pace maybe 4 feet from the turn lane. The traction light, wrench light, and engine light came on. When it was my turn to go, the car would not accelerate for me to make the turn. I had exited the highway & was stopped at a stoplight in the right hand turn lane. I called Ford and they are aware of this problem but have not notified owners yet. Very very dangerous situation, and very scary. They said the electronic throttle body failed. I had to have my husband drive 7 hours to get me and put the car up on a rented uhaul car transport and drive 7 hrs back home to the dealership. Car was shuddering again, warning lights on instrument panel. I was able to get over but not out of my lane. This time there was a truck behind me and he had to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid rear ending me. Driving on very remote highway going approx 75 and car loses all power and dies. I turned the car off and was able to restart it and get to my destination. It was late at night in a very remote area.

The orange wrench light was on, the instrument panel said see owners manual and the car was shuddering and shaking. I was luckily able to get to the shoulder. I suddenly lost all power and the car would not accelerate. I was driving my 2016 Ford Fusion on the highway going approximately 70-75 mph.
